Tulsi basil

Tulsi Tea: The "Mother Medicine of Nature"

Tulsi basil, also known as Ocimum sanctum or holy basil, is a sacred herb in Hinduism. It is considered the "mother medicine of nature." Since ancient times, Tulsi has been revered as an herb that can promote a healthy body, mind, and spirit. In Western medicine, holy basil is known as an adaptogen, a herb that helps your body adapt to stress.

Holy basil is native to India and other tropical countries. It's widely cultivated in these regions and used as a culinary herb, fragrance, and medicine.

Tulsi tea, made from holy basil leaves, is popular in India and other countries where the herb grows naturally. This brew has a light golden colour and a slightly sweet taste with hints of mint and cloves. Tulsi is rich in antioxidants, and many believe it boosts immunity, fights inflammation, improves digestion, relieves stress, and promotes heart health.

As we mentioned before, tulsi basil is an adaptogen. But what does that mean, exactly? An adaptogen is a natural substance that helps the body cope with physical and mental stress. Tulsi basil does this by helping to regulate cortisol levels in the body. Cortisol is often referred to as the "stress hormone," High levels of cortisol can have all sorts of adverse effects on your health—from weight gain to anxiety and depression. So, keeping cortisol levels in check, tulsi basil can help you feel calmer and more balanced overall.

In addition to its stress-busting benefits, tulsi basil is also antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral. This makes it a great way to boost your immune system and help fight off minor and major illnesses. What's more, tulsi basil is also a powerful antioxidant. Antioxidants help protect your cells from damage caused by free radicals—unstable molecules that can lead to inflammation throughout the body. Free radical damage has been linked with everything from cancer to heart disease, so including antioxidants like tulsi basil in your diet is a great way to promote overall health and wellness.

Whether to boost your immune system or enjoy a delicious herbal tea, tea with tulsi is a great choice!
